Bawumia’s running mate: Group in Volta Region roots for Napo

The group is appealing to the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to consider Napo over any other potential nominee

A group known as Bawumia Fun Club in the Volta Region has called for the nomination of the Energy Minister, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, as the running mate to Mahamudu Bawumia for this year’s election.

Rashid Raji is the leader of the Bawumia Fun Club in the region.

According to the leader of the Bawumia Fun Club, Rashid Raji, Opoku Prempeh is a distinguished politician who has worked tirelessly for the development of the party and Ghana as a whole, prompting the call to nominate him as the running mate.

“Prempeh’s tenure as the Minister of Education was marked by transformative reforms, notably the successful implementation of the Free Senior High (SHS) policy, which significantly expanded access to education.”

“Opoku Prempeh’s exceptional rapport with all regions, including the Volta Region, coupled with his laudable track record in various capacities, has earned him widespread acclaim and recognition, notably as the Best Minister in 2017 and 2019,” Rashid said.

Rashid added that, in the case of the Volta Region, votes for the NPP will maximise if Napo is considered, saying, “If we choose Napo, it would increase the votes in the Volta Region as well because related is related to Voltarians”.

The group believe that Bawumia and Napo are good candidates that can give the NPP another victory in the December polls.
