The police administration has said it has beefed up security at Pokuase and its environs following the recent theft of crash barriers mounted at the interchange by some unknown persons.
The director of public affairs of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Alexander Obeng, called on the residents to help the police with information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits.
“The police are currently embarking on both foot and mobile patrols around the interchange in order to increase our presence. The community members should also be vigilant and ensure that they take full custody and protect public property,” he said.
Barriers replaced
The galvanised crash barriers that were stolen at the newly constructed Pokuase Interchange have since been replaced with new ones.
To forestall their being vandalised, the new barriers, covering 40 feet, have been secured with bolts and knots and also welded, thereby making it difficult to remove them.

The replacement exercise was undertaken by the contractor for the Pokuase Interchange and Local Roads Project, Zhongmei Engineering Group Limited, last Tuesday.
The four-tier Pokuase Interchange on the Accra-Nsawam-Kumasi road is the first of its kind in West Africa and was inaugurated by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on July 9, 2021.
