UG Sports Stadium selected as venue for 2024 WAFU Zone B U-17 Cup of Nations

Training grounds for the tournament have also been revealed and include the Athletics Oval Field, the Mensah Sarbah Field, and the Union Ghana Soccer Field, all located within the University of Ghana campus.

The University of Ghana (UG) Sports Stadium has been confirmed as the venue for the upcoming West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B U-17 Cup of Nations.

The tournament kicks off on 15 May and runs until 29 May.

The recently inaugurated stadium in March 2024 played host to two matches during the 13th Africa Games men’s football tournament.

This time around, it will be the stage for a battle for regional supremacy and the two coveted qualification spots at the 2025 TotalEnergies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Seven nations will vie for glory: hosts Ghana, CĂ´te d’Ivoire, Benin, defending champions Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Togo.

Training grounds for the teams include the Athletics Oval Field, the Mensah Sarbah Field, and the Union Ghana Soccer Field, all located within the University of Ghana campus.

Ghana’s U-17 national team, the Black Starlets, find themselves in Group A alongside CĂ´te d’Ivoire and Benin. Meanwhile, their arch-rivals, Nigeria, will face off against Burkina Faso, Niger, and Togo in Group B.
