The 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia has said the government has embarked on concrete and practical projects that are transforming the socio-economic development of the country.

Bawumia mentioned the completion of projects under the various development authorities, introduction of Free SHS and the revival of the National Ambulance Service under the “One District One Ambulance” policy as some of the major achievement of the current government.

In a virtual address to participants at the 8th CEO Summit including NDC flagbearer John Mahama in Accra on Monday (27 May), Bawumia said the economy has performed far better under the NPP.

“There is so much that we are doing in terms of normal routine development, the ambulance service collapsed, we have implemented the “One constituency, One ambulance” to revive the national ambulance system…”

“You look at our investments in technical and vocational education, over GHC6 billion in the last seven years, the largest investment in TVET by any government in the Fourth Republic, and we have made TVET free. You are seeing in terms of our development authorities, major completion of projects;1,0609 projects completed under the development authorities.”

“The Northern Development Authority has completed about 304 projects so far. So we are not talking about the guinea fowl project, this economy that you say have not done well is doing better than you did,” Bawumia said.
