The 2024 presidential candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, has eulogised the Upper West Regional chairman of the NPP, Saanbaye Basilide Kangbere, adding that Dr Kangbere’s loyalty to the party was unquestionable.
Kangbere, also known as Chairman Heavyweight, died at his home in Adjringaano, Accra, on Friday (7 June 2024).
Chairman Heavyweight, 76, had reportedly been struggling with renal health problems.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Dr Bawumia said: “I have received with a heavy heart the news of the demise of Dr. Saanbaye Basilide Kangbere, the Upper West Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP: Development in Freedom).
“Dr Kangbere’s loyalty to the NPP was unquestionable. Even in sickness, he actively co-ordinated activities in his region.
“I condole with his immediate family and the NPP fraternity, especially Upper West. May his humble soul find eternal peace with the Lord,” Bawumia wrote.
