In a gesture of solidarity, the communities of Wulugu and Namiboku in the West and East Mamprusi Municipalities have donated foodstuffs and cash to support the people of Bawku in the Upper East Region, which is traditionally part of the Mamprugu Kingdom.

The donations aim to alleviate the suffering of Bawku residents, who have been unable to access their farmlands due to the ongoing conflict in the area.

The chiefs and people of Wulugu donated 50 bags of maize, three bags of rice, 12 bags of charcoal and a sum of cash to the tune of GHC5,000.

Meanwhile, the chiefs and people of Namiboku made a cash donation of GHC3,060.

The donations were presented to executives of the Mamprugu Youth Association (MAYA), who will hand them over to the Bawku Naaba, Alhaji Seidu Abagre (Naa Sherigah), and his subjects in Bawku.

The president of the Mamprugu Youth Association, Iddrisu Saibu, expressed his gratitude to the chiefs and people of Wulugu and Namiboku for their generous support.

He appealed to the general public, and especially people living in the Mamprugu Kingdom, to continue supporting the vulnerable people of Bawku.

The gift followed another contribution by the Walewale Concerned Youth Association, which recently donated 30 bags of maize, ten bags of charcoal, five bags of rice and salt to support the Bawku Naaba and his people. This donation was also made through the Mamprugu Youth Association.

Other communities in the Mamprugu Traditional Area have also shown their support by donating foodstuffs and money to assist residents affected by the civil unrest.
