Physioshop Production Centre opens first phase in Paga

The centre will be responsible for the production of hospital equipment and medical essentials for the market in Northern Ghana

The Physioshop Production Centre has opened the first phase of its ultra-modern, state-of-the-art production centre in Paga in the Kassena-Nankana West District.

The phase one opening of the centre forms part of the company’s drive to expand its operations in the country beyond Accra- Weija where it runs a similar factory.

When fully operationalized, the centre will be responsible for the production of hospital equipment and medical essentials for the market in Northern Ghana and export to the sub-Sahel region.

The centre will also offer maintenance services for the repair of hospital equipment to reduce the cost of procuring new equipment which places financial burdens on health facilities.

Speaking at the ceremony, the founder and chief executive officer of the company, Seidu Zimmowura, said he was particularly happy with the employment opportunities the opening of the centre will present to the people of the district.

He stated that the company will need hands to fill the material fabrication, liquid disinfectants, metal fabrication, wood and clay units of the centre.

Zimmowura said the job opportunities will be used to reduce the plight of persons living with disability and tackle the movement of the youth to Southern Ghana to seek non-existent jobs.

“The importance and benefits of this project are obvious that I need not mention them in this my speech but I will still like to mention just a few, employment; The project intends to provide employment opportunities for the young people, women and even the disabled. We are also hoping to mitigate the needless internal migration of the youth to Southern Ghana, which is a serious challenge confronting the country.”

He added, “our common enemy as a people is poverty. As a people, let us focus on dealing with our common enemy. We should abhor any ill or bad wishes against one another.”

Greening the desert project

Zimmowura later led the company to plant and distribute economic tree seedlings to residents of Paga-Nyania as part of its Greening the Desert Project.

Nearly 200 seedlings comprising cashew, grafted mango, guava, lemons, and shea nut, among others, were distributed to the residents who thronged the company premises.

Zimmowura, who spoke on the importance of trees to the environment, urged the residents to look after the seedlings to ensure their survival.

He added that “the distribution of the tree seedlings to the households is to symbolize the presence of P.P.C in Paga. The trees should not be left to die. They should be well taken care of.”
