COVID-19: Ghana begins digital verification of test results

Ghana becomes the first country in ECOWAS to deploy a system for digital verification of COVID-19 PCR test results

Ghana has begun digital verification of COVID-19 test results prior to travel and arrival in the country, based on the African Union Trusted Travel and ECOWAS Biomars standard, the Ministry of Health has announced.

The move is expected to put an end to the circulation of fake COVID-19 results and also strengthen the country’s resolve to ensure infected persons with the viral disease does not enter the country.

A statement issued and signed by the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, said only test results or certificates bearing trusted travel or Biomas code will be considered valid for travel out of Ghana effective 21 April 2021.

Ghana has become the first country in ECOWAS to deploy a system for digital verification of COVID-19 PCR test results based on the African Union Trusted Travel and ECOWAS Biomars standard.

The statement further advised all travellers to sign up for accounts on trusttravel.panabio.org with the same email address and mobile numbers they provided to the laboratories during testing.
