Justina Marigold Assan, the Central Regional minister, has said that Asaase is changing the narrative after two years in the media industry.
Speaking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo in the lead-up to the official opening of Asaase 100.3 Cape Coast, she said the latest addition to the Asaase Broadcasting group of companies will bring stiff competition to the region.
“You talked about what we did during Farmers’ Day,” Assan said. “It was so beautiful when Asaase came on board, the interviews that we had. It should tell you that Asaase really wanted to change the narrative, I believe.
“Over the years, when you sit back and hear what people say about the Central Region, it is so disheartening. I believe that with Asaase on board, we are going to have the media space to tell our story, the Central Region story … that beautiful culture that we have in the region,” she said.
“And it is going to change the narrative, the misconception that people have, drag[ging] the name of the region in the mud. I have not heard anything negative about Asaase. The thing is that they say it as it is, and we need to give them our ultimate support,” the regional minister said.
Assan urged Asaase to champion the cause of the masses in the region, especially the youth.
“We need to create that enabling environment for Asaase to thrive, to challenge young ones coming on board, so that the youth who have pertinent issues to address can have that space to come to Assase willingly to talk about them … So it is going to give us that competitive space for other media portals to change what they do,” Assan said.

Asaase, the Accra-based pan-African multimedia station, has begun activities to mark its second anniversary.
Asaase Broadcasting Company (ABC) Ltd, the mother company of Asaase 99.5 Accra, launched its programming on 14 June 2020. It has since expanded its reach to the Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono and Bono East Regions with Asaase 98.5 Kumasi, the Northern Region with Radio 99.7 Tamale, and the Central Region with Asaase 100.3 Cape Coast.

Asaase currently boasts top presenters such as Kwaku Nhyira-Addo and Nana Yaa Mensah, who are the anchors of The Asaase Breakfast Show from Monday to Friday.
Also flying the Asaase flag are Carolyn Sampson (hosting Café Asaase 99.5), Naa Ashorkor (host of Between Hours from Mondays to Thursdays at 1pm and Just Us on Tuesdays at 7pm), Elvis Crystal (who presents Rush Hour from Mondays to Fridays between 3pm and 5pm) and BlaqueBoy, who hosts Nitro Avenue (Tuesdays to Thursdays, 8pm-10pm).
Asaase 100.3 is expected to roll out full programming from today and will be broadcasting from the historical regional capital of the Central Region, Cape Coast.
Asaase 100.3 Cape Coast is owned by Asaase Broadcasting Ltd, a private commercial media organisation which also operates Asaase 99.5 Accra, Asaase 98.5 Kumasi and (soon to launch) Asaase 99.7 Tamale.
