The anti-robbery task force of the Ashanti Regional Police Command has shot dead three suspected armed robbers in an intelligence-led operation in Buokrom Estate.
The suspects were among an armed gang who engaged the police in a shootout in the town.
However, the police did manage to arrest one of the robbers an official statement said.
“Police in the Ashanti Region on Thursday, 4 November ,2021. undertook an intelligence-led operation that has resulted in the arrest of one robbery suspect and the death of three other suspects who sustained gunshot wounds during the operation.”
“Following the intelligence received that an attack was being planned on a businessman at Buokrom Estate , the Regional Police anti-Robbery Taskforce personnel mounted a search screening operation of all vehicles entering the estate. During the search , the four suspects who were in a car attempted to fire at the personnel who were undertaking the operation, ” the statement added.
The personnel fired back injuring three of the men who later died from the gunshot wounds at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital . One suspect connected to the planned robbery was arrested
