The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has initiated a three-day capacity-building programme for its Control Engineers and System Operators to equip them with the necessary skills to handle emergencies during and beyond the upcoming December elections.
Organised by the Ashanti Sub-Transmission Region of ECG at the Boadi Regional Office in Kumasi, the program is designed to enhance the professionalism and preparedness of participants.
Divided into three batches, it focuses on building confidence among the engineers and operators, ensuring they can perform their duties efficiently under any challenging conditions.
“With these preparations, ECG is reaffirming its commitment to being a reliable partner in the socioeconomic development of Ghana. We are ready to provide safe, reliable electricity to meet the country’s energy needs during the elections and beyond,” said a facilitator of the project, Ing. Peter Kofi Fletcher.
For the public relations officer of Ashanti Sub-Transmission, Collins Manu, “the training is an integral part of our dual-layered strategy to ensure supply continuity: system readiness through preventive maintenance and manpower readiness via training and capacity building.”
Facilitating the program were Ing. Peter Fletcher, General Manager for the region; Ing. Kurt Festus Prange, Control Engineer, Accra Sub-T; and Ing. Christopher Anafo, Manager for Protection and Control of Ashanti Sub-T.
