A group of constituency executives of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday (15 July) picked nomination forms for Ashanti Regional Organiser Francis Adomako as he prepares to contest for the position of Ashanti Regional Secretary.

The delegation, made up of constituency secretaries, organisers and other party officials from constituencies including Manhyia North, Manhyia South, Subin, Nhyiaeso, Asokwa and Bantama, gathered at the Ashanti Regional Elections Committee office in Asokwa to obtain the forms on Adomako’s behalf.

The group was led by former Manhyia South Constituency Organiser Alhaji Abubakar Alhassan, popularly known as Abouba, who said the move reflected confidence in Adomako’s leadership and experience.

The nomination forms were received from Eric Asonade, Secretary to the Ashanti Regional Elections Committee.

Adomako, popularly known as “Francois”, is seeking to move from his current position as Ashanti Regional Organiser to Regional Secretary in the party’s upcoming regional executive elections.

Supporters say his two terms as Regional Organiser have equipped him with the administrative and organisational experience needed to manage the affairs of the party in its electoral stronghold.

“Mr. Adomako has served this region faithfully, selflessly and with commitment,” Abouba told reporters after the forms were picked.

“He is an all-embracing leader who has consistently demonstrated loyalty to the party. We believe he is the most qualified person to manage the administrative engine of the NPP in the Ashanti Region.”

The delegation later presented the nomination forms to Adomako at his residence.

The aspiring Regional Secretary thanked the constituency executives for what he described as an overwhelming show of confidence and pledged to run an efficient and unifying regional secretariat if elected.

“I am deeply humbled by this immense show of support,” Adomako said.

“I will complete the forms and file my nomination by Friday. This is the first step in rebuilding and re-energising the party from its stronghold as we work towards securing victory in the 2028 general election.”

The NPP is expected to hold regional executive elections as part of its reorganisation following its defeat in Ghana’s 2024 general election.
