The heightened security follows incidents of violence during the initial election on Tuesday (11 February) when a group of thugs linked to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), caused chaos, forcing authorities to halt proceedings.
In response, security personnel swiftly intervened to restore order and prevent further escalation.
The Ashanti Regional Caucus in Parliament has strongly condemned the disruption and urged the government to take decisive action against those responsible.
Almost all the 12 candidates are currently observing the process as 86 voters cast their ballots.
