North East Region: Delegates back Bawumia

The governing party goes to the polls on 4 November to elect its flagbearer. Bawumia is vying for the position with three others

Yamusah Ibrahim, alias Brainmaster, the North East regional deputy secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), said delegates from the region are supporting Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia to become the presidential candidate of the party ahead of the 2024 elections.

The governing party goes to the polls on 4 November to elect its flagbearer. Bawumia is vying for the position with three others – maverick lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong, former MP Francis Addai-Nimoh and the former minister of agriculture Owusu Afriyie Akoto.

Speaking to Asaase News, Ibrahim was confident that Bawumia will poll over 95% of votes across the country to lead the NPP.

“We pray that come 4 November, we should get 95% to 100% votes in the whole country. 95% that is what I am anticipating,” he added.

However, he said delegates in North East Region are hoping to give Bawumia a 100% endorsement.

“We are expecting 100% [votes] because when you compare those who were contesting with him, we know very well that the man is very intelligent, and he is a political luminary who can take this country to the next level.

“We don’t just want a leader who will come and take over; we want someone who can take the country to the next level,” he said.

“Everybody in the North East region is very excited about the 100% endorsement given to the Vice President,” Ibrahim said.
