Asamoah Gyan calls on Ghanaian sports legends to empower youth

The former Black Stars captain took to the X platform to rally Ghanaian sports legends to revitalise Ghana's sporting landscape

Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has taken to social media to rally Ghanaian sports legends behind a noble cause aimed at leveraging their influence and resources for the benefit of youth development in sports.

In a recent tweet from his official X handle, Gyan extended a heartfelt invitation to his fellow colleagues, emphasising the need to revitalise Ghana’s sporting landscape and reclaim the glory days of football.

“I believe the time has come for legends in sports to come together and use their influence, network, and resources in attracting investors into our country and make a meaningful impact on our youth in the sports fraternity, i.e., football, boxing, and other athletics,” Gyan stated.

Gyan stressed the importance of fostering focus, enjoyment, and inclusivity within the sporting community, stating that such efforts could reignite national unity and revive the collective spirit reminiscent of past triumphs.

“I strongly believe that engaging our youth and grooming them through these avenues can get them to be more focused, make sports more fun and attractive, and eventually bring us together once again, just as it use to be in past. I have started this journey, and I humbly invite all my colleagues to join in this cause in reclaiming our football days,” Gyan concluded.
