Mobile money agents without Ghana Card linkage to be blocked 1 February

The directive is coming on the back of extensive engagement between the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunication with the leadership of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA)

Electronic Money Issuers (EMIs) across the country have been given up to 31 January deadline to coordinate with agents for the linking of their accounts with either the Ghana Card or Tax Identification Number (TIN).

The directive is coming on the back of extensive engagement between the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunication with the leadership of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

A statement issued by the Chamber on Tuesday (30 January) says EMI’s who fail to do so will have their SIM cards blocked effective 1 February.

“After multiple extensive engagements with the leadership of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) on the linking of all agents accounts with the Ghana Card or TIN, the Authority magnanimously. Gave all EMI’s up to the end of 31 Janauary, 2024, to work with the agents to ensure they complete the linking process. Thus all agents account without Ghana Cards will be blocked on 1 February. ”

“Information about this exercise has been communicated directly with all affected agents through multiple channels over the period,” the statement said.
