The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly has appointed Dorinda Armstrong Mensah, known publicly as Nana Ama Egyirba, as one of its new tourism and development ambassadors.
Egyirba, the station manager of Asaase Radio Cape Coast, was inaugurated at the assembly following the announcement by Mayor George Justice Arthur.
The initiative forms part of a broader push to highlight young professionals contributing to the city’s cultural and economic development.
With nearly two decades of experience in media, advocacy and public engagement, Egyirba has been an active promoter of Cape Coast’s heritage and civic causes.
Speaking after her appointment, she said the role was “a crown of recognition” for years of work and a renewed call to serve her hometown.
“This is the land of my birth, and I’ve always carried Cape Coast in my heart. This appointment puts a crown of recognition on years of quiet service, and I’m ready to continue this worthy cause now and beyond my reign,” she stated.
The ambassadors are expected to work with the Ghana Tourism Authority, the Museums and Monuments Board and the Oguaa Traditional Council to boost the city’s tourism appeal, strengthen cultural preservation efforts and support youth-focused development activities.
Mayor of Cape Coast, George Justice Arthur said the selected team had demonstrated a consistent commitment to promoting Cape Coast and expressed confidence that the new ambassadors would help elevate the city’s profile nationally and internationally.
