Asaase Foundation to support Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital

Appearing on The Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday, the medical superintendent of the hospital Maame Yaa Nyarko called on well-meaning Ghanaians and organisations to come to their aid

The Asaase Foundation – established to drive corporate social responsibility initiatives by Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited – will be celebrating early Christmas with the children of Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital in Accra on Tuesday 13 December 2022.

The foundation has planned Christmas party for the children to socialise with staff of Asaase 99.5 Accra and other stakeholders, and will also donate to the hospital to create a sense of belonging.

The theme for the celebration is dubbed, “Asaase cares: building up to the PML’s Christmas party.”

Appearing on The Asaase Breakfast Show with Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on Monday (12 December), the medical superintendent of Princess Marie Louise (PML) Children’s Hospital, Maame Yaa Nyarko called on well-meaning Ghanaians and organisations to come to their aid.

Pressure on infrastructure

According to her, the hospital faces infrastructural challenges considering the number of children they provide service to daily.

“We need support with buildings like you just heard,” Nyarko said. “We are 97 years old, so a lot of the things there are quite old. We had some new buildings but there is a lot of pressure in the hospital so we need support with those areas.”

She, however, commended other organisations and individuals for their support.

For his part, the administrative manager of Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital, Rockson Obeng also said that the hospital does not only seek to provide healthcare, but also supports children to put smiles on their faces to enable them forget their health conditions.

“So, I mean aside from money, we need other supports like in terms of souvenirs, educational materials and even if they are things to cushion the parents amidst all these difficulties, that is what we aim to achieve,” Obeng said.

Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital offers general pediatrics for children from birth to age 18 and some specialised clinics for sickle cell, asthma, HIV and other developmental challenges.
