Asaase Foundation holds charity ball to procure dialysis machines

Valuable items donated by sponsors, partners, friends and family were auctioned in a drive to raise the funds for the Asaase Foundation to acquire dialysis equipment and consumables

The Asaase Foundation – established to drive corporate social responsibility initiatives by Asaase Radio – held a charity ball on Saturday (26 February) to raise funds to support individuals with kidney diseases.

The event, which was held at the Omanye Hall of Labadi Beach Hotel, was just one effort by the Asaase Foundation to increase awareness, educate the public about kidney health and raise funds for dialysis machines.

The equipment will be donated to selected health facilities in Ghana to treat kidney disease patients.

Individuals from all walks of life, including the former first lady of Ghana Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, the musician Reggie Rockstone, the political strategist and chairman of Asaase Broadcasting Company (ABC) Ltd, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, members of the diplomatic corps and chief executives of corporate institutions graced the fundraising event.

Valuable items donated by sponsors, partners, friends and family were auctioned as part of the drive to raise funds to buy dialysis machines to serve hospitals in areas of great need.

The KGL Foundation made a generous contribution to the fundraising to promote kidney health. Support for the event also came from Colours in Africa, the multimedia artist Francis Y Brown, Afranie of Nekad Platinum Art, the Artists’ Alliance Gallery/Glover family, Heather Badger of Artivity, Heritage Pots, Jane’M Salon & Spa, Mansa Gold, Skin Gourmet and the Wellness Institute.

Otchere-Darko, the founder of the Danquah Institute, shared his personal and family encounter with kidney disease at the event.
