Asaase edges past Mx24 TV 5-3 to win invitational football gala

Asaase Radio was crowned champions of an invitational football tournament on Monday at the East legon Astroturf in Accra.

The team came from a goal down to beat Mx24 TV 5-3 in the final in an entertaining match as the members showcased their talent outside the studio and newsroom.

The result followed a 7-2 thrashing of Mx24’s team B in the qualifying round.

Dennis Asante (Avatar) who opened the scoring in the first game snatched a late goal to make it 5 -3 in the final and finished the game.

George Brew was instrumental in both games, scoring the last goal in the 7-2 thrashing.

Bernard Marfo was named the goalkeeper of the competition after making crucial saves in the final.

Nana Kwame Bediako received a special Most Intelligent Player award for his impact on the game.

Asaase Sports’ Princeton Wiredu who coached the team to victory was delighted to share the special prize with the team.

‘It’s been a wonderful day with guys here. They have all played their part in this success. I’m proud of them. We have demonstrated our talents here and our people will be very happy,” he said.
