From humble beginnings in Yawmetwa to Abengourou in Côte d’Ivoire and on to Accra, Augustine Yaw Blay has epitomized a journey destined for greatness. A journey that has earned him the nickname “SIMBA,” symbolizing the role of Simba in Disney’s “The Lion King.”

Affectionately known as Simba, Augustine is a distinguished executive currently serving as the Executive Secretary to the Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. He holds a Ph.D. in Information Technology and an MBA. His academic interests span artificial intelligence, government digital services, data science, digital transformation, and change management.

Augustine has authored numerous research articles on technology adoption and organizational behaviour, showcasing his expertise. With over 15 years of leadership in technology across public and private sectors in the United States, he has played a pivotal role in implementing technology solutions for election monitoring and collation programs in Ghana. Fluent in French, English, and Spanish, Augustine’s professional acumen is enhanced by his multilingual proficiency.

He is renowned for his pivotal contributions to the promotion and development of the GhanaCard as an e-passport and for establishing the world’s largest medical drone facility, the Zipline drone centers.

Augustine’s contributions also include the implementation of ghana.gov, the paperless port system, and integrating the NIA database with Passport, DVLA, NHIS, Birth, and Death databases.

A true son of the soil, Augustine’s commitment to the Western North Region is unparalleled. His leadership and dedication were instrumental in the establishment of the Western North Region.

His contributions extend to numerous infrastructure projects, including the Benchema Nkwanta to Oseikrom, Adjoafua to Tigare (Yesukrom), Essam-Debiso Town roads, Debiso–Yawmetwa, Debiso–Oseikrom, among others.

These efforts earned him the esteemed title Nana Aboafo)hene Yaw Awuah I, bestowed upon him by Okatakyie Bumagama I, the paramount chief of the Sefwi Wiawso traditional council.

Augustine’s passion for youth development shines through his mentorship and advocacy, facilitating numerous job placements and tertiary education enrolments. \

His dedication to advancing technology in governance and fostering sustainable development has solidified his status as a transformative figure in Ghana’s administrative and technological landscape.
