Armed robbers kill two policemen, steal motorbike in Binduri ambush
In a statement issued on Sunday night by the Director of Public Affairs, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the police confirmed that the officers were in plain clothes and riding a private motorbike when they were ambushed

The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt following the fatal shooting of two police officers by suspected armed robbers near Poyamirea, on the outskirts of Binduri in the Upper East Region.
In a statement issued on Sunday night by the Director of Public Affairs, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the police confirmed that the officers were in plain clothes and riding a private motorbike when they were ambushed. The attackers reportedly made away with the motorbike after the shooting.
The identities of the deceased officers are being withheld until their families are formally notified, in accordance with custom and tradition.
“Our hearts and prayers are with the families, the regional commander, as well as all officers and men in the region,” the statement read.
“The perpetrators of this heinous crime will be arrested and brought to justice; we shall surely get them.”
The police have urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement as investigations continue. Security has been heightened in the area as the search intensifies.
The development comes hours after a man was reportedly killed and his body set ablaze along with a motorbike in the same area, amid renewed violence linked to the long-running Bawku chieftaincy conflict.
Local residents say the unidentified victim may have been ambushed and shot before being dragged into nearby dry grasses and burned with the motorcycle he was riding. A disturbing photo circulating online appears to show a shadow of an armed individual standing near the body.
The attack comes just a day after the Inspector General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, concluded a visit to the region following deadly clashes in Bawku that left one person dead.
Police have yet to comment on the latest killing, which adds to growing concerns over the spread of violence from Bawku to nearby districts including Pusiga and Binduri.
