Armah-Kofi Buah leads delegation to 2026 Mining Indaba in South Africa

Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, former energy and petroleum minister

The minister for lands and natural resources and acting minister for environment, science, and technology, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has arrived in South Africa to head Ghana’s delegation to the 2026 Mining Indaba Conference.

According to a statement from the ministry’s media relations officer, Paa Kwesi Schandorf, the minister touched down on Sunday, 8 February, ahead of the four-day continental forum that brings together governments, investors, regulators, and mining companies to discuss Africa’s extractive sector.

During the conference, Armah-Kofi Buah will participate in high-level meetings and strategic discussions focused on addressing challenges and identifying new opportunities within Africa’s mining industry.

A major highlight will be the Ghana Day event on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, where the minister will headline proceedings. The event is expected to showcase Ghana’s investment potential, particularly in the mining sector, and attract interest from global investors.

As Africa’s top gold producer, Ghana aims to leverage the Mining Indaba platform to promote responsible, sustainable mineral development and reinforce its position as a preferred destination for mining investment.

The 2026 Mining Indaba, Africa’s premier mining and investment conference, officially opens on Monday, 9 February, with a series of policy discussions, networking opportunities, and investor engagements planned over the four days.

Ghana’s participation aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision to strengthen the country’s mining sector through strategic global partnerships and targeted investment initiatives.
