Armah Buah urges global leaders to act decisively against climate change

Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah/COP 30/Climate change

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has urged world leaders to take urgent and decisive action to combat the worsening effects of climate change, warning that the phenomenon is “gradually changing the world order.”

Speaking at the COP 30 Climate Conference in Brazil on Monday, 10 November 2025, Buah said the growing climate crisis—marked by rising sea levels, unpredictable weather patterns, and prolonged droughts—continues to push vulnerable communities to the brink.

He cautioned that African countries, including Ghana, which contribute the least to global emissions, are suffering the most severe consequences.

“Though we are among the lowest emitters of pollution, we are on the frontline bearing the heaviest impact. The evidence is all around us—the increasing level of extreme weather, rainfall variability, unprecedented floods, heatwaves, and drought that cracks the earth,” he said.

Buah warned that the impacts of these climate shocks pose a direct threat to food security, public health, and livelihoods across Africa.

“These are not abstract climate models; they are realities that translate into hunger, malnutrition, and the loss of livelihoods that sustain vulnerable communities,” he added.
