Annoh-Dompreh – I expected the NDC to fail, but I just didn’t think it would be this fast
Frank Annoh-Dompreh says he anticipated a weak start by the new Mahama-led NDC government, but not to this extent

The Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has criticised what he describes as early signs of failure by the newly elected National Democratic Congress (NDC) government and warned that many more scandals could unfold in its first year in office.
Speaking on Atumpan on AsaasePa 107.3MHz on Monday (14 April), the Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP questioned recent public comments by the Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, suggesting that his tone and posture contradict President John Mahama’s call for collaboration among state security agencies.
“If you are a minister for communication, you speak for the president,” Annoh-Dompreh argued. “Whatever you articulate, you do so on behalf of the president.
“In one breath, the president says there should be collaboration between security agencies [to investigate this matter]. In another breath, you jump the gun, throw jabs and call people liars and clowns.”
“Too soon”
Annoh-Dompreh’s comments appear to be a direct response to statements by the Minister in charge of Government Communications in relation to “AirMed”, the current scandal involving suspect flights to Ghana and allegations of cocaine smuggling and money-laundering which has split public opinion and led to calls for an independent probe.
Annoh-Dompreh said he had anticipated a weak start by the NDC, but not to the present extent.
“I knew the NDC would fail, but I didn’t know the failure would come this early. Every new government may have shortfalls in one or two years – but theirs is too early,” he said.
Though he refrained from making direct accusations of corruption, the MP predicted that governance scandals would begin to surface within the administration’s first 12 months.
“I won’t curse them,” Annoh-Dompreh said, “but after one year, we’ll see the scandals that will unfold.”
