Amin Adam calls for Party reforms to revive NPP’s chances in 2028
Adam called for constitutional amendments that focus on empowering grassroots party members and ensuring a more inclusive and accountable leadership structure

Former Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam has expressed optimism about the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) chances of reclaiming power in the 2028 elections but says this can only happen through diligent effort and meaningful reforms within the party.
In a statement shared on social media, Amin Adam praised the work of the Mike Oquaye-led Constitutional Review Committee, stating that their efforts had laid a strong foundation for party renewal following the NPP’s loss to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 polls.
“The Mike Oquaye Committee’s efforts have set us on the path to rebuilding our party and regaining power from the NDC. We thank them for the good job,” he said.
Adam called for constitutional amendments that focus on empowering grassroots party members and ensuring a more inclusive and accountable leadership structure.
“One of the key reforms is the leadership selection process, a process that must be open to all and recognise the roles each party member can play towards our victory,” he said.
He emphasised the importance of including current and former party executives, Members of Parliament, former MMDCEs, and other stakeholders in the decision-making process.
Another reform he advocated for is linking government appointments to party loyalty and active participation.
He proposed that only dues-paying members in good standing who actively participate in party activities at all levels—constituency, regional, and national—should be eligible for appointment when the party is in government.
Adam called on all NPP members to rally behind the nine-member committee to design reforms that would strengthen the party’s structure and electoral appeal.
“By working together, we can build a stronger NPP and secure a brighter future for our country,” he concluded.
