Ambulance case: NDC’s action seems choreographed, says legal practitioner

Rice/Corruption/Tema Port

A private legal practitioner, Nana Adjei Baffour Awuah has said the action of the opposition National Democratic Congress in the ongoing ambulance case seems to be choreographed.

The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame has refuted claims by persons associated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on an allegation made by the third accused person, Richard Jakpa, during proceedings in court on Thursday (23 May) that he (Attorney General) desired his cooperation in the matter in order to secure a conviction of the first accused, Cassiel Ato Forson.

Richard Jakpa, the man suspected to have recorded the AG, is on trial with the former deputy Minister of Finance and Minority Leader, Cassiel Ato Forson, in the ambulance procurement trial with an alleged €2.3 million financial loss to the state.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced that it will soon present evidence supporting the claims of the third accused in the ongoing ambulance procurement trial.

Reacting to the development on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (28 May), Baffour Awuah said “If you feel you have a very good case, why not wait until your case is called in court.”

He added, “For me, in my humble opinion, the haste with which the NDC has run to town with this matter makes it seem like the whole thing was choreographed.”
