Alcaraz powers past Paul to reach French Open semi-finals, set to face Musetti

The Spanish second seed needed just 53 minutes to dismantle Paul in the opening two sets, dropping only one game in a blistering start

Defending French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz produced a commanding display to secure his spot in the Roland Garros semi-finals, sweeping past 12th seed Tommy Paul in straight sets.

The Spanish second seed needed just fifty-three minutes to dismantle Paul in the opening two sets, dropping only one game in a blistering start. Paul mounted a stronger challenge in the third set, but Alcaraz broke at 4-4 and closed out a clinical 6-0, 6-1, 6-4 win.

Alcaraz, 22, is eyeing a return to the final as he prepares to face Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, who earlier defeated American Frances Tiafoe 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 to reach his second career Grand Slam semi-final.

Musetti, the eighth seed, showcased a blend of finesse and aggression to overcome Tiafoe, who was the first American man in 22 years to reach the French Open quarter-finals.

Despite levelling the match in the second set, Tiafoe struggled to keep pace in the third and fourth as Musetti surged ahead to seal victory.
