250-bed Sawua Hospital to be ready October 2021

The US$64 million Sawua Hospital project is to help ease pressure on major hospitals in the Ashanti Region

The 250-bed Sawua Hospital is set to be completed and handed over to the government by the end of October 2021, construction officials said.

The Site engineer, Amer Farouk Mahmaoud Amer, said although all infrastructural woks have been completed, provision of utility services remain outstanding.

This announcement was made during an inspection tour to some major ongoing projects in the region by the Ashanti Regional minister, Simon Osei Mensah.

The minister gave the assurance that utility providers meeting will be held to help speed up the completion. The project is currently 95% complete, the contractors said.

The US$64 million 250-bed Sawua Hospital project is amongst four other hospitals being constructed by the Egyptian Construction firm, Euroget De-Invest in the region. The project which has seen a delay in its completion is to help ease the pressure on major hospitals in the Ashanti Region.

The hospital sitting on a 12,500 square-metre land upon completion will see 10 surgical theatres, dental, orthopaedic, urology and andrology specialist clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, an ambulance station, a housing for lactating mothers, an outpatients’ department and a mortuary.

The regional minister also visited the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the residence accommodation for the Appeal Court Judges and the Dompoase Lorry Terminal project sites.

Mensah showed satisfaction with the progress of the various projects, and said all projects will be keenly monitored.
