Akufo-Addo to BECE candidates: Make Ghana proud

A total of 571, 894 students are writing the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) this year

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has extended his best wishes to all the candidates writing the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE).

In a tweet, Akufo-Addo said: “I send best wishes to all 571, 894 students who are sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination. Make Ghana proud with the quality of your results, and remember at all times that Free SHS awaits you next year.”

A total of 571,894 students are sitting for this year’s BECE which began today, Monday 15 November and ends Friday 19 November 2021, at 2,158 centres nationwide.

In a related development, the Minister of Education, Yaw Osei Adutwum, has asked students participating in the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) to desist from all forms of examination malpractices.

In a statement, Adutwum said his outfit is working with the Ghana Education Service (GES) and West African Examination Council (WAEC) to ensure a smooth and peaceful examination at all the centers.

“On behalf of my Ministry, I wish to extend my best wishes to the 571, 894 candidates who will be writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination from Monday 15 November 2021 to Friday 19 November.

“I wish to encourage candidates, invigilators, supervisors, school authorities, and teachers to observe all COVID-19 safety protocols as you write the exams devoid of all forms of examination malpractices,” the statement read.
