Otumfuo destools ‘defiant’ queen mother of Offinso Traditional Area
The destoolment comes after Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko's repeated refusal to appear before Otumfuo Osei Tutu II following summons over alleged misconduct
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has destooled the queen mother of the Offinso Traditional Area, Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko, during the first Asanteman Traditional Council meeting for the year.
The destoolment comes after Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko’s repeated refusal to appear before Otumfuo Osei Tutu II following summons over alleged misconduct.
The Asantehene on Thursday (11 January) directed the newly enstooled chief of Offinso, Nana Dwamena Akenteng II, to find a new queen mother to support his reign.
The Offinso stool controversy arose following the death of Nana Wiafe Akenten III in October 2021, leading to protests and disputes among kingmakers regarding the nomination of a new chief.
