Agradaa convicted for defrauding by false pretence and charlatan advertisement
The conviction stems from a 2022 television broadcast in which Agradaa promoted what she described as money-doubling rituals

The televangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has been convicted by a Ghanaian court on charges of defrauding by false pretence and engaging in charlatanic advertisement.
The conviction stems from a 2022 television broadcast in which Agradaa promoted what she described as money-doubling rituals.
The controversial advert, which circulated widely across social media and her private TV platform, promised quick financial returns to individuals who brought forward initial cash deposits.
Agradaa, a former self-styled traditional priestess who rebranded as a Christian evangelist, was arrested shortly after the broadcast, following multiple complaints from viewers who claimed to have been scammed.
Victims alleged that after attending her advertised spiritual sessions and handing over large sums of money, they received nothing in return – prompting a wave of public outrage and a swift investigation by law-enforcement officials.
The court found that Agradaa’s actions constituted deliberate deception for personal gain, violating sections of Ghana’s criminal code related to false representation and unlicensed spiritual claims.
