Aggrieved CLOGSAG members speak out against strike directive
In a letter dated 13th February 2025, the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG declared a nationwide strike set to begin on 20th February 2025.

A faction of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has expressed strong opposition to the nationwide strike announced by the Executive Secretary of the association.
In a letter dated 13th February 2025, the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG declared a nationwide strike set to begin on 20th February 2025.
The reason cited for this action is the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the head of the Births and Deaths Registry, whom the Executive Secretary considers a politically exposed individual.
Discontent among CLOGSAG members
However, some aggrieved members of CLOGSAG find this directive unjustified and misaligned with their primary concerns. They argue that the focus should instead be on addressing issues directly affecting their conditions of service.
Notably, the implementation of the new salary structure, which has seen no updates since October 2024, remains unaddressed by the leadership.
Disappointed by what they describe as misplaced priorities, these members have decided to disassociate themselves from the strike and continue reporting to work as usual.
They urge the leadership of CLOGSAG to prioritize more pressing matters such as: the implementation of the National Salary Structure (NSS) and the cessation of the Tier-3 Pempamsie Fund
The aggrieved members call on CLOGSAG executives to realign their focus with the welfare of members rather than political matters. As they continue to work, they seek constructive dialogue and tangible solutions that will directly benefit all members of the association.
