Afua Asantewaa breaks silence on death of Ama Endorsed: it doesn’t seem real

Afua opened up about the emotional weight of losing someone who had become more like family over the years

Ghanaian influencer and skilled artisan Ama Endorsed, popularly known as “The Female Carpenter,” passed away under sudden and heartbreaking circumstances, leaving fans, colleagues, and loved ones in deep shock.

Among those hit hardest by her untimely death is long-time friend and fellow creative, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum.

In an exclusive interview with GhanaWeekend, Afua opened up about the emotional weight of losing someone who had become more like family over the years.

“We all started as pageantry contestants, and she was there during my first attempt at the Singathon,” Afua recalled with a heavy heart. “She would’ve been there for my second attempt if not for her work commitments.”

Ama, who proudly carried the title “The Female Carpenter,” was more than just an influencer. She was a gifted craftsman who inherited and ran her late father’s carpentry business—a legacy she upheld with love and pride.

“She was very close to her father and took on his legacy when he passed,” Afua shared. “It’s one of the reasons why she became known as ‘The Female Carpenter.’”

Ama’s death has left a gaping void, not only in the lives of those who knew her personally but also in the creative industry where she was celebrated for her uniqueness and strength.

“We were good friends up until her passing, and I still can’t believe she’s gone,” Afua said, visibly emotional. “Ama was actually supposed to fix our wardrobe in our new apartment before this sudden event occurred. It just doesn’t seem real.”

As tributes pour in, so too have rumours surrounding the cause of her death, including unverified claims of slow poisoning. Afua, however, dismissed these speculations.

“I don’t believe the slow poison story,” she stated firmly. “She was surrounded by close family and friends and everything seemed fine. It wasn’t the kind of setting where something like that could have happened. Not to say I don’t believe in human fallibility, but this just doesn’t add up for me.”

While grappling with her own grief, Afua also expressed deep empathy for Ama’s family—especially her sister.

“I’m not even blood but if I feel this way, imagine how her sister feels,” she said. “I believe she’ll continue Ama’s legacy.”

Ama Endorsed was a trailblazer, admired for combining her creative influence with practical craftsmanship in a field dominated by men. Her passion, humility, and commitment to her father’s trade made her a standout figure.

“She was a rare soul, and she’ll be deeply missed,” Afua concluded.
