African Schools Championship draw pairs Ghana girls with Morocco, boys face Uganda

The CAF Schools Championship aims to elevate the standard and quality of school football across Africa

The 2025 Confederation of African Football Schools Championship, has thrown up exciting matchups with host Ghana girls set to face Morocco, the 2024 runners-up in the group stage while the boys will face Uganda after Monday’s draw in Accra.

Eight teams in two groups of four with winners proceeding to the final when the matches start on Wednesday (23 April).

Second-placed teams will play the third-place final for the $150,000 cash prize. The winner of the competition will take home $300,000, while the runner-up will take $200,000.

The Black Damsels who are also making their debut at the tournament after winning the WAFU B qualifiers have also been paired with Benin and Malawi in group A.

Holders of the girl’s category South Africa have been handed a tough group of Uganda, DR Congo, and The Gambia.

In the boys category, debutants Ghana will challenge South Africa and Algeria in group A. Tanzania will begin their title defense against Senegal, debutants Côte d’Ivoire and DR Congo.

The third edition of the CAF African Schools championship for boys and girls under the age of 15 will be held at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra from 23 to 28 April 2025.

This year’s edition promises to be more impactful with the theme, “Encourage, Educate and Engage” coupled with series of capacity-building programmes.

The official draw held at the Headquarters of MultiChoice Ghana was conducted by African football legends Asamoah Gyan and Clementine Toure.

“The African Schools football championship is heartwarming.”- Gyan said. “It is something Africa needs and for me in football, you have to start at the foundation and that’s the foundation.” Kudos to CAF President Dr. Patrice Motosepe. He’s done an incredible job. This is what I support.”

The CAF African Schools Football Championship which was launched in 2022 is an organised schools’ football competition that aims to elevate the standard and quality of school football across Africa.
