The African Renaissance Trust has launched a health financing dashboard aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and decision-making around healthcare investments across Africa.
The African Renaissance Health Financing Insights Dashboard is designed to provide a central platform for tracking health financing commitments, monitoring progress and assessing whether resources allocated to the health sector are producing measurable outcomes.
According to the African Renaissance Trust, the dashboard was developed to address persistent challenges around the availability, accessibility, and use of reliable health financing data across the continent.
The platform provides stakeholders with insights into health financing trends, allowing governments, policymakers, researchers, and development partners to better understand how health resources are mobilised, allocated, and utilised.
The Trust said the dashboard will help strengthen accountability by making it easier to track commitments made by African countries and measure progress towards achieving sustainable health financing.
It noted that while African governments have made several commitments to increase investments in health, gaps remain between policy declarations and actual implementation.
The dashboard is expected to help close this gap by providing evidence that can guide decision-making, improve planning, and support more efficient use of limited healthcare resources.
The African Renaissance Trust said access to timely and reliable data is critical to ensuring that health financing decisions are based on evidence rather than assumptions.
The platform will also support stronger collaboration among governments, health institutions, private-sector actors, and development partners by providing a shared understanding of Africa’s health financing landscape.
Beyond tracking financial commitments, the dashboard seeks to highlight opportunities for improving efficiency, strengthening accountability mechanisms, and ensuring that investments translate into better health outcomes.
The Trust said the initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to promote sustainable health financing and reduce dependence on unpredictable external support.
By providing a clearer picture of health financing performance across countries, the African Renaissance Health Financing Insights Dashboard is expected to support Africa’s transition towards more resilient, equitable, and self-sustaining health systems.
The Trust believes that improved access to financing data will empower leaders and institutions to identify challenges, prioritise investments and accelerate progress towards universal health coverage across the continent.
