Afena Gyan, Edmund Addo earn maiden Black Stars call-up for Ethiopia, South Africa clash

Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has named a 28-man squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa

AS Roma youngster Felix Afena Gyan has been handed a maiden call-up by coach Milovan Rajevac ahead of Ghana’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa this month.

The 18-year-old made his debut for Roma’s senior team last month in a Serie A game against Cagliari.

Joining Gyan in making their first ever call-up is FC Sherrif Tiraspol midfielder Edmund Addo.

Richmond Boakye Yiadom who is based in Israel and plays for Beitar Jerusalem is back in the team after a three-year absence.

Four home-based players in Hearts of Oak’s goalkeeper Richard Atta, Asante Kotoko defender Ismail Ganiyu and Dreams FC duo of Fatawu Isahaku, Philemon Baffuor have been invited.

Ghana must beat Ethiopia and South Africa to qualify for the Africa World Cup playoffs and stand any realistic chance of qualifying to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

Ghana will take on Ethiopia on 11 November 2021 in Johannesburg and three days later play South Africa in Cape Coast on 14 November.
