Adwoa Safo fails to appear before privileges committee

Sarah Adwoa Safo failed to appear before the privileges committee on a Zoom link that was provided to her to join proceedings on Wednesday (6 July)

The Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Sarah Adwoa Safo, Wednesday failed to appear before the privileges committee of Parliament after summons were published in the national dailies following the committee’s inability to reach her.

The committee was hopeful that she was going to join them via video call.

The committee, however, could not take any decision on her absence due to a lack of numbers.

A former MP for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak in March petitioned Parliament over the continuous absence of four lawmakers namely Sarah Adwoa Safo, MP for Dome-Kwabenya; Henry Quartey, MP for Ayawaso Central, Kennedy Agyapong (Assin Central) and Ebenezer Kojo Kum, MP for Ahanta West

Meanwhile, MP for Ayawaso central Henry Quartey on Wednesday had his turn before the committee.

Quartey told the privileges committee that he was unwell and had to seek medical attention which resulted in his inability to be in Parliament.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, charged the privileges committee of Parliament with investigating charges of chronic absence lodged against the MPs.
