Adomaa: Shirley personally called me to audition for Dede role

The singer-cum-actress says she received a call from the movie producer to audition for the long running TV show series Dede

Ghanaian singer and actress Adomaa has said that movie producer Shirley Frimpong-Manso called her personally to audition for the lead role in the popular Ghanaian series “Dede“.

“It was one random day, I got a message from someone in my management team that someone from Sparrow possibly Shirley wanted to talk to me. A few minutes after that I got a call from Shirley Frimpong-Manso,” Adomaa recalled on Asaase Radio’s Between Hours show.

“‘Basically,’ she said, ‘I have a job for you’. Initially, I thought she wanted me to score a movie or project or something. But she said she had a lead role for a very long running television show series. She then invited me for an audition. It was a very short phone call,” Dede told the host Naa Ashorkor.

She said she competed with two others for the role.

Playing “Dede”

Adomaa said she is always mindful when playing the role of Dede so it does not conflict with her real personality.

“Something I have to consciously do in my head. So, I might be feeling things as Adomaa, but because I’m playing Dede, I block certain emotions.

“I encourage myself to think of the money first, that helps me play Dede well,” Adomaa said.
