Sefwi Wiawso: PAC refers college principal to A-G for prosecution

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has referred the principal of Sefwi Wiawso College of Education, Emmanuel Cersamar to the Attorney-General (A-G) for prosecution for breach of procurement process.

The violation is in connection with the alleged unlawful procurement of goods and services worth GHC276, 807.

The chairman of PAC, James Klutse Avedzi gave the order when the authorities of the Sefwi Wiawso College of Education appeared before it in Sunyani.

In an interview after the sitting, Avedzi urged agencies and institutions to comply with the financial laws of the country.

He said the committee wants to clear all PAC sitting arrears by January 2024.

On the issue of delays in the accreditation of some programmes at the universities, which took centre stage at the sitting, Avedzi said, the committee would sit with both the accreditation board and the universities to find a lasting solution.

The Public Accounts Committee commenced its zonal sitting in Sunyani, the Bono regional capital to consider the 2021 Auditor General’s report.

Officials from the Sunyani and Kumasi Technical Universities and Colleges of Education in the Bono and Western North regions appeared before the Committee on the first day of sitting.
