Abronye DC: Lies by NDC won’t wash

Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, says the opposition National Democratic Congress has resorted to lies to force its way back to power

The Bono Regional chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has said the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) cannot resort to lies to return to power.

Speaking on The Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday (11 November), Abronye DC said claims by the NDC deputy director of communications for the Bono Region that there are no tangible projects in the region are “totally false”.

“We have done a lot of projects,” Abronye DC told the sit-in host Benjamin Offei-Addo.

He added: “Let me start from the Ahafo Region. There’s a contractor on the following roads: Kenyase, Shwediem to Tema. You can also see the regional co-ordinating council building will be commissioned by the close of the year – these are projects for only Ahafo Region.

“It was under their [the NDC’s] incompetent administration that the Sunyani Airport was abandoned. The Sunyani Airport, which was closed down in 2015, is under renovation now.

“Why are they talking about Sunyani Airport? They did virtually nothing as far as Sunyani Airport is concerned, so what are they talking about? They are talking because Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is competent, and he’s doing what he said he would do,” Abronye said.

Achievements in Bono

Touching on projects in the Bono Region, he said the new health insurance office is under construction and will be commissioned by the end of February 2022.

Of agriculture, he said: “We’ve commissioned the biggest tomato factory in Berekum West, which is in operation now, we have another tomato processing factory in Sunyani West located in Ayakomaso which has recruited about 540 workers.”

He also reported that all the tomato farmers in Jaman North, Jaman South, Berekum West, Berekum East, Dormaa East and Dormaa Central are “feeding the factories with their produce”.

Abronye DC said another factory in Dormaa under the Special Development Initiatives programme is being used as a warehouse to cut back on post-harvest losses.

A 5,000-seater sports stadium will also be commissioned in Bono in January 2022, Abronye said.
