The Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament has blocked plans by the government to reconstruct the Accra International Conference Centre at a cost of GHC1.3 billion and to open new Ghanaian embassies in Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago and Mexico.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday (21 December), North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said the government cannot execute capital intensive projects in the midst of the current economic crisis.
“NDC MPs both at the Foreign Affairs Committee and at plenary last night have effectively scuttled governmentās 2023 plans to demolish the Accra International Conference Centre and construct a new one at a staggering ā¬116million (GHS1.3billion).
