9th EMY Africa Awards slated for 24 November

Known as one of West Africa’s premier awards ceremonies, the EMY Africa Awards celebrate distinguished men in various fields who are committed to societal progress

The much-anticipated ninth edition of the EMY Africa Awards is set to take place on November 24 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

Known as one of West Africa’s premier awards ceremonies, the EMY Africa Awards celebrate distinguished men in various fields who are committed to societal progress.

This year’s event is expected to attract attendees from across Africa and the diaspora, solidifying its position as a prestigious continental awards platform.

Speaking on the significance of this year’s event, Kojo Soboh, the Chief Executive Officer of EMY Africa Awards, emphasised the commitment to excellence.

“For years, the awards board has set the bars high in production, and this year’s event promises to be one of the best in our awards journey,” he stated.

The awards ceremony not only celebrates men but also recognises outstanding women breaking barriers and pushing boundaries in their respective fields.

Since its inception in 2016, EMY Africa has honored men from various sectors, including industry, community, culture, and public service. Previous recipients of the award include influential personalities such as former Ghanaian President John Agyekum Kufuor, Tony Elumelo, the CEO of United Bank of Africa, Togbe Afede XIV, President of Africa World Airlines, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, the Chief Imam of Ghana, and Sir Sam Jonah, CEO of Jonah Capital.

This year’s nominees represent a new generation of leaders making a significant impact in society. The Discovery of the Year category includes Olive The Boy, Buzstop Boys, Seroumne Ikogho of Detail Africa, and Prince Gyasi, all recognised for their innovative contributions.

Meanwhile, in the sports category, nominees for Man of the Year include notable athletes Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Mohammed Kudus, Ekow Boye-Doe, and Abdul Fatawu.

In the entertainment industry, the Actor of the Year category features renowned names like James Gardiner, Too Sweet Annan, Timini Egbuson, and Anthony Woode, all celebrated for their influence and talent in African cinema.

The Man of Music category includes Ghana’s most influential musicians, with Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and King Promise competing for the award. Each nominee in this category has significantly contributed to the growth and global recognition of African music.

The EMY Africa Awards also celebrate creative talents in fashion and design. The Designer of the Year category highlights visionaries like Anthony Dzamefe, Philip Adjepong, Kwaku Bediako, and Makun Ominiyi, who continue to shape African fashion on the global stage.

With its prestigious lineup of nominees and extensive influence, the EMY Africa Awards remain a key event in Africa’s social calendar, honoring men and women who inspire societal progress.

This year’s ceremony promises to showcase the best of African excellence, leaving a lasting impression on attendees and viewers alike.
