Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku to receive honorary recognition at Africa Business Heroes 5th Anniversary Summit and Gala

Africa Business Heroes is the flagship philanthropic program of the Jack Ma Foundation in Africa, dedicated to bolstering entrepreneurs across the continent

Celebrated Ghanaian actress and broadcast journalist, Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku, has been chosen as an honoree by the Africa Business Heroes (ABH 100) awards for her steadfast support of the program since its inception five years ago. 

Africa Business Heroes is the flagship philanthropic program of the Jack Ma Foundation in Africa, dedicated to bolstering entrepreneurs across the continent. 

Naa Ashorkor will be among distinguished individuals acknowledged for their contributions to ABH’s mission throughout the five editions, gathering in Kigali, Rwanda, on November 23rd and 24th, 2023, for the Grand Summit and Finale. 

In a statement, the organisers expressed their “delight in recognizing the broadcaster with Media General as one of those outstanding individuals whose efforts have impacted the program, propelling ABH to new heights through their unwavering dedication.”

Naa Ashorkor is scheduled to deliver a special address at the Grand Summit and workshop, where top entrepreneurs will engage in real-time competition for the esteemed title of Africa’s Business Hero and a share of the USD 1.5 million unrestricted grant funding. 

Distinguished speakers at the event include Lucy Quist of the Bold New Normal, Fred Swaniker, Founder of African Leadership Group, NUSEIR YASSIN, Founder of Nas Daily, and a lineup of over 50 speakers with diverse backgrounds in entrepreneurship, business, media, investment, and the ecosystem. 

Drawing on her extensive experience, Naa Ashorkor had previously served as a mentor on the ABH 2021 TV show, guiding the journey of the ABH 2021 Top 10 heroes to the Grand Finale. 

About Naa Ashorkor 

Nisirine Ashorkor Mensah-Doku is a Ghanaian broadcast journalist and actor. She is a specialised compère, Tv producer, and content creator. 

Naa Ashorkor has also become an ardent advocate for sustainable development goals on girls education and promoting the well-being of new mothers as a postpartum health advocate. 

In 2008, Naa Ashorkor began his broadcasting career as a youth and entertainment host and has now branched mainly into advancing the development of women and children. Ranked as one of the 100 most influential women in Ghana, Naa Ashorkor has recently joined the Africa Netpreneur Prize Initiative, – Jack Ma Foundation, and the flagship philanthropic entrepreneur program for African entrepreneurs as a mentor. 

She has lent her voice and personality to the national behavioural change campaign in the fight against COVID-19 and the anti-terrorism initiative “See something, say something” run by the Government of Ghana. 

In 2021, Naa Ashorkor started her flagship TV show “We Got This Africa”, a platform curated for African women to share and learn from the struggles and experiences peculiar to African women. She produced and hosted Tales from the Powder Room during her time at GHone TV.”

This was a show targeted at women between the ages of 18 to 35 and sought to find solutions to very critical issues which confronted women in that age bracket.
