Kofi Appianin Ennin, the Independent Candidate for Obuasi West Constituency in the upcoming 2024 elections, is rallying support from constituents with a promise to rejuvenate the mining town.
The businessman broke away from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to contest against the incumbent MP, Kwaku Kwarteng, citing the need for better leadership to improve the lives of residents in the mining town.

Speaking with journalists to officially launch his campaign on Saturday (5 October) Mr Ennin highlighted Obuasi’s challenges, emphasising that the town’s struggles stem from poor leadership.
He urged voters to give him a chance, pledging to bring positive changes through initiatives like health, women empowerment, and education trust funds already in place to assist the needy.

“We need to fight hard to take the seat and bring Obuasi back to life. This is a mining town, but the people are suffering. The current MP is not helping matters, and that’s why I am here to make a difference. The current MP is not helping matters, and that’s why I am stepping in to make a difference. I have already started laying the foundation for change by creating health, women empowerment, and education trust funds to help the poor and needy.”
Appianin, who remains a committed NPP member also rejected claims he is being sponsored by another presidential candidate to campaign against the governing party’s flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
“As I have said already, I am an NPP member, and I will campaign for Bawumia. Have you heard me campaign for Alan? I am always going for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” he clarified.

His message to constituents is straightforward: “Everybody should go all out and vote for Kofi Appianin. We are targeting 70% of the votes, and I know we can achieve this if we stand united for the progress of Obuasi.”
The health walk brought together the youth, opinion leaders and known faces within the Obuasi West Constituency.
