Election 2024: We’ll deliver on our mandate in grand style, says EC
The Electoral Commission says it has deployed a robust system to detect and prevent people from cheating and to correct any anomalies that occur during this year’s election

The director of electoral services at the Electoral Commission (EC), Benjamin Bano-Bioh, has said the EC will maintain a level playing field for all political parties in the lead-up to the 2024 general election.
Bano-Bioh said the EC has deployed a robust system to detect and prevent people from cheating at the polls, and to correct any anomalies that occur during this year’s election.
Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (31 July) at the launch of Asaase Broadcasting Company’s Election Nerve Centre – the station’s official season covering Election 2024 – Bano-Bioh said the EC will deliver on its mandate in grand style.
“We are of the view that elections can only be peaceful when the results declared are a true reflection of the desire of the people who voted, and [to ensure] this, we are poised to ensure that we maintain a level playing field for all political parties,” he said.
“This is the foundation for which the EC stands, and we are going to ensure that, come 7 December 2024, we will deliver our mandate in a very grand style …” Bano-Bioh said.

Speaking on the same programme, ACP Victoria Yamoah of the Police Election Security Secretariat said the Ghana Police Service has begun working in earnest to ensure a peaceful election in December.

“Ghana’s democratic process relies on the integrity and security of its electoral system,” she said.
“When it comes to the security of elections, the police – led by the IGP and other security services that constitute the National Security Task Force – have been doing a lot behind the scenes to ensure a successful election in December.
“But of course it is not only the election day that we are looking at. A lot happens before, during and after the election, and the EC needs to be given the needed security to effectively discharge [its] duty,” ACP Yamoah said.
