Youths and Elders of Offinso Kayera ask Bryan Acheampong to drop politics and take up chieftaincy role

Dr Bryan Acheampong according to the youths and elders of Offinso Kayera, is a royal and an indigene of their town in Ashanti Region

The youth and elders of Offinso Kayera in the Ashanti Region have made a clarion call on Dr Bryan Acheampong, the Minister for Food and Agriculture to as a matter of urgency, resign from his political role and from Parliament where he serves as a member for the Abetifi constituency in the Eastern Region, to pick up the role as chief of Offinso Kayera following the death of Nana Karikari Wiafi-Ababio.

Dr Bryan Acheampong according to the youths and elders of Offinso Kayera, is a royal and an indigene of their town whose grandparents migrated to Kwahu in the Eastern Region. They emphasized that as a royal of Offinso Kayera, he is fully fit to be enstooled as the chief of Offinso Kayera to occupy the stool which is now vacant.

Addressing a press conference in Offinso Kayera, spokesperson for the youths and elders of the community, Nana Owusu Ansah, said Dr Bryan Acheampong is a grandchild of one of the three elders (Nana Osei Kwaku, Nana Boateng, and Nana Acheampong) who founded the Offinso Kayera town and for that matter, he is a direct royal of Offinso Kayera who is fit to be the chief of the area.

“All those who are descendants of Nana Osei Kwaku and Nana Boateng who were qualified to assume the role of chief of Offinso Kayera have all unfortunately died. If the Offinso stool is vacant and we have a direct royal of Offinso Kayera such as Bryan Acheampong, it is only right that we make him the chief,” Nana Owusu Ansah said.

“I ask the youth and people of Offinso Kayera to enstool Bryan Acheampong as the Chief to allow him to bring the development he has brought to other parts of the country to Offinso Kayera as well. Our community lacks so many social amenities and I believe that if he is given the chieftaincy role, he will help develop the community his ancestors founded,” Nana Owusu Ansah added.
