Woman arrested for allegedly stealing a baby in Walewale

The incident happened in the small hours of Thursday (18 April 2024) while the mother of the baby was sleeping in an open space of her house

Abdulai Zalia, 27, has been arrested by the West Mamprusi Police Command for stealing a 13-month-old baby in Walewale in the North East Region.

The incident happened in the small hours of Thursday (18 April 2024) while the mother of the baby was sleeping in an open space of her house.

The baby’s father who returned home late after watching a football game noticed the baby was not beside his sleeping wife.

The couple immediately reported the matter to the police.

The alleged baby thief was arrested on Thursday (18 April) by the Crime Investigative Department (CID) with the 13-month-old baby in her custody.

Sources also revealed that the woman who is from Nalerigu is mentally challenged and has been stealing petty things in the area.

According to the police, the matter is under investigation and the woman will be arraigned before the law court in Walewale on Friday (19 April 2024).
