Ghana Energy Awards: Asaase Radio’s Emmanuel Aboagye-Wiafe nominated for Energy Reporter of the Year award

Aboagye-Wiafe, the host of Asaase's flagship energy programme Energy 101, is being acknowledged as Energy Reporter of the Year for the second time

Emmanuel Aboagye-Wiafe, host of Energy 101 on Asaase 99.5 Accra, has been nominated at the 2023 Ghana Energy Awards as Energy Reporter of the Year.

This is Aboagye-Wiafe’s second nomination in two years after failing to win the award last year.

The 7th Ghana Energy Awards is under the theme “Ghana’s energy transition framework: sector institutions as building blocks for the 2030-2040 targets”

The event is scheduled for Friday, 17 November 2023, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.

Speaking on his nomination, the host of the Energy 101 programme on Asaase 99.5, Accra said, “It’s a great honour to be nominated for the second time and to also win two awards back-to-back in a year.”

Aboagye-Wiafe, was acknowledged at the 2023 Think Energy SDGs Awards on 30 June 2023.

“This is a double recognition for me; it shows how important energy issues are coming up in the media space. Being nominated means the essence of energy reporting is beginning to show more light.”

Aboagye-Wiafe has over the years used his experience in the energy sector to educate the public and communicate the essence of shifting the focus to renewable energy usage as part of achieving SDGs targets 7 and 13.

“Even though it is a personal honor, I also see it as a general corporate honour for Asaase Broadcasting Company,” he added.

The prestigious ‘Ghana Energy Awards’ is organised by the Energy Media Group under the auspices of the World Energy Council Ghana, the Ministry of Energy and its allied agencies.

The Awards Scheme recognises the efforts, innovation and achievements of individuals, companies and institutions within Ghana’s energy sector. It also celebrates the tremendous work of competing players under various award categories.

The Ghana Energy Awards provides the ideal platform for industry champions to gain the recognition they deserve for their sterling contribution and performance in the energy sector.
