North East Region: Youth of Yizesi mobilise funds to repair broken ambulance, health center

According to the youth in Yizesi, the proper functioning of the ambulance will go a long way to augment healthcare delivery

Residents of Yizesi, in the Mamprugu Moaduri District of the North East Region, are raising funds to repair a broken-down ambulance in the community.

The ambulance was donated to the community by Ussif Mustapha, a Member of Parliament and Minister for Youth and Sports.

There is no district hospital in the area currently and the proper functioning of the ambulance will go a long way to augment healthcare delivery.

The assemblyman for the Yizesi electoral area, Sombeluguni Hamza said, “Our MP gave us an ambulance which got broken last year. And we can’t just be relying on him to be repairing it or working on it any time it has any fault.”

“So, the youth decided to play a role. So, this contribution is going to take care of the ambulance to bring it back on the road to help during emergency cases.”

Aside from the money being contributed for the repairs of the broken ambulance, the youth are also soliciting funds to get their deteriorating health centre rehabilitated.

The assemblyman after engaging the youth in a meeting said the contribution from the residents is necessary because they want to save lives and develop the community.

“The purpose of our meeting is to help the community develop. So the youth decided to play a role in developing the Yizesi health center. The government is not proving everything so we have all decided to play a role. So are going to make a contribution of GHC50 per person to help renovate the facility,” Hamza said.

He appealed to individuals, NGOs and philanthropists to come to their aid to ameliorate the challenges in the community.
